AcouSome video

Check our new video showcasing the future of automated sample preparation

As the project approaches its end, the AcouSome consortium is pleased to release a video highlighting how acoustic separation is transforming sample preparation in laboratories and healthcare settings—making it automated, miniaturized, and highly reliable.

At the core of the video is acoustic separation: this gentle, label-free method uses ultrasound to wash, separate, and concentrate cells and particles inside a closed microfluidic chip.

The technology builds on pioneering research developed at Lund University and commercialized by its spin-off AcouSort, which today offers both benchtop instruments for research laboratories and customized modules for integration into analytical, diagnostic, and therapeutic devices.

The AcouSome project took this foundation a decisive step further. As highlighted in the video, the consortium has advanced the technology through the development of new sound-generating materials, innovative chip materials, and expanded application scenarios—pushing acoustic separation closer to real-world deployment in next-generation diagnostic and biomedical instruments.
